A concrete overlay for the patio you would rather keep

A stamped overlay laid over a worn or cracked patio, pool deck, driveway or walkway: salt-resistant, customizable and a fraction of the cost of tearing it out.

A new surface over the slab you already have

A stamped overlay is laid over a worn or cracked patio, pool deck, driveway or walkway, and it can be patterned and coloured so the old slab reads as new. The concrete underneath stays where it is, so there is no demolition, no haul-away of the old slab and no wait for a full pour to cure.

That makes it the usual answer when someone asks whether a tired patio can be saved. Often it can, and the call comes down to what the existing slab looks like once someone is standing on it.

Salt-resistant, customizable and quick to install

An overlay is built to take what Central New York throws at a surface: freeze-thaw, wet springs and de-icing salt. It is durable and salt-resistant, and because it is customizable you choose the pattern and the colour rather than inheriting the grey you started with.

Installation is quick, and the cost is a fraction of what it takes to tear out and replace the slab. For a patio or pool deck that is structurally sound but ugly, that gap is usually the whole argument.

The consultation is free. Call (315) 676-0005 and we will come out to Syracuse, Cicero, Clay, Baldwinsville, Brewerton or wherever in Central New York the slab sits.

What an overlay does not replace

An overlay goes over concrete. It is not a way around old asphalt: Distinctive Stone & Concrete does not pour over asphalt, so a driveway on asphalt comes out and is rebuilt on a prepared base.

When a slab is too far gone to carry a new surface, the honest answer is a new pour, reinforced with solid rebar at a minimum of 4000 PSI with the excavation and site work included. We would rather say so at the estimate than lay a surface that will not last.

Distinctive Stone & Concrete has resurfaced and rebuilt concrete around Syracuse and Central New York since 2002. Google rating 4.6 from 110 reviews.

What happens to the finish afterwards?

A resurfaced slab is sealed like any other stamped surface, and the same routine keeps it looking new: see concrete sealing for the sealer options and the care guide for the winter rules, including no ice melt. If the pattern you want is the point, the stamped concrete page shows how stone, brick and wood-look patterns are poured from scratch, and Wisetack financing is available for larger projects, subject to credit approval.
